5 Simple Happiness Habits That Light Up My Life (And Might Brighten Yours, Too)

Posted on July 9, 2025July 9, 2025 by rose

Coffee as a ritual. I am serious about my morning coffee. It’s sacred, a moment of zen, a non negotiable part of my day. I look forward to my morning coffee so much I once clapped as I poured the liquid gold into my favorite mug. I have multiple mugs with motivational quotes on the inside, so when I take my first sip I’m reminded to ā€œbe the changeā€ ā€œto live life in full bloomā€ and to ā€œfocus on the goodā€ My coffee ritual always sets the tone for my day, sweetened with a hint of sugar and sprinkled with cinnamon, of course.

Planning My Week with Purpose I wrote down my dream map and I’m really trying to focus on what I want to accomplish by the winter solstice. Each Monday I access areas in my life I need to work on, and sometimes it’s a lot and getting everything done is near impossible. I set my intentions, manifest the life I wish to lead and I reset even in weeks of chaos.

Curating a ā€œMain Characterā€ Playlist I cannot stand silence. Literally, it drives me mad. So when I wake up, I put on my happiness playlist. Lately it’s the soundtrack from Pride in Prejudice. As I make my morning coffee in my beautiful mug I imagine a proper English breakfast and I’m transported to another era. That’s the beauty of a playlist. Sometimes I cook to music from the jazz era, and exercise to hard rock or disco. My music playlist enhances my mood, or helps me on days when I’m not feeling as motivated. Music has the power to shift my energy instantly. It’s not just background noise, it’s soul fuel.

Food as Fuel, Not Punishment. Food is fuel, it’s nutrition to literally fuel our bodies. It gives us the energy we need to do all thing big and small tasks. It’s also love. For me, it’s about choosing meals that make me feel alive, not sluggish. That means fresh, colorful, vibrant, plant-based. But it’s not about perfection, it’s about nourishment. Mindful choices. Gentle grace. And yes, sometimes vegan donuts. Just be careful to understand the difference between treats and binges. Ask yourself, ā€œDo I want to feel good after I eat?ā€ Let that guide your plate. There’s nothing like sharing a beautiful meal with someone you love.

Embracing Gratitude (Even When It’s Hard). When you are going through it, I mean really going through it, it’s so hard to say I am thankful. Your view of your situation skews the bigger picture. That’s the time to remember your gratitude. Gratitude isn’t just for the good days, it’s the light we hold upĀ throughĀ the hard ones.
Each night, I quietly say 3 things I’m grateful for. Some days it’s big: a breakthrough I’ve been waiting for, a kind friend, an unexpected tip. Other days it’s small: a delicious meal, a funny cat video, a good hair moment. Every day I am always thankful for my husband James, my cats, our families and love. Being grateful transforms my mood and recenters me. Keep a ā€œJoy Jarā€ or note in your phone. Gratitude multiplies when we name it.

I hope these 5 simple happiness habits help you as you reclaim your joy in a crowded, chaotic world.
love and light,

Rose

Living in Houston I sometimes feel far removed fro Living in Houston I sometimes feel far removed from my life in NYC, and my life with trees in California. @redwoodmusical reminded me to ground myself and remember, we are one with trees. PILLARS OF WISDOM* ā¤ļø from camellia in snow poetry book.
The trees of life  inspire to stand tall,  grow old with grace;
offer uplifted palms
to those in need of
shelter and shade
 from the erratic
elements of earth.

The trees of life  teach patience;
tolerance of strangers,
fight against prejudices.
All are welcome
under their emerald canopies,
 be it animal, bird or human.

The trees of life nurture passion, opening to all
who weather their storms.
embracing the breeze
and the warmth from the mesmerizing kiss
of the scorch of the sun.

The trees of life show beauty is timeless,
greenery does not fade
as do the fleeting years of youth. Faith in Mother Nature,
every winter is followed
by blossoming months
of an expectant spring.

The trees of life,
our ancient mentors.
Surviving mortality;
 reaching for the heavens.
I am a mere pupil
hair swaying in the wind,
never taking for granted

Happy Sunday 😻 I am listening to motivational sel Happy Sunday 😻

I am listening to motivational self development books on audible. This has been a subject I’ve been obsessed about since way before my early blogging days. A subject I want to tackle organically, over a one year period starting in January.

Please comment who you like to listen to and why. I’m currently listening to Mel Robbins. I also enjoy Tony Robbins, Dr Wayne Dyer, Eckert Tolle among others. I often watch random YouTubers for inspiration.

It seems people who want to change their lives often don’t know what they want.

That’s not the case for me. I know what I want, it’s trying to navigate life as I figure out how to get what I want that often leaves me stuck. Oh, and money. That’s a big one too. A lot of things ( example dance) cost money.

I know my time management needs improvement, and I don’t get home from work before 11 pm. Days are the best time for me, but I find I need to sleep in at least until 10:00 am.

I’m doing the self reflection now, so in January I can get to work. I’ve had some success at my dreams but it’s time to build on that. I’m also a terrible procrastinator and I sometimes make excuses why I’m not doing something.

Doing a self reflection audit. Making lists and listening to those who inspire.

You are never too old to dream big.
If you are alive, it’s your time.

I choose to chase my dreams no matter the number of my birth year, the number on the scale or my bank statement. I am a human not a number, a human who believes in magic.

The show has multiple locations, I’m sure you can guess by this photo. We plan to start pitching in 2025.

We started a tradition making burgers and tator tots, having candy, carving pumpkins and watching Halloween movies. A tradition we have done for years.

In our second apartment in Pittsburgh ( Mt Lebanon) we tossed our first old couch. We didn’t have one in time for Halloween so we ate our Halloween feast on the floor with bowls of candy and blankets galore. It was cozy in all its simplicity.

I almost want to sit on the floor tonight as I eat my beyond burger; cats and hubby by my side as we watch the giddy children trick or treat for candy.

All is well with the world.
