Coffee as a ritual. I am serious about my morning coffee. It’s sacred, a moment of zen, a non negotiable part of my day. I look forward to my morning coffee so much I once clapped as I poured the liquid gold into my favorite mug. I have multiple mugs with motivational quotes on the inside, so when I take my first sip I’m reminded to “be the change” “to live life in full bloom” and to “focus on the good” My coffee ritual always sets the tone for my day, sweetened with a hint of sugar and sprinkled with cinnamon, of course.

Planning My Week with Purpose I wrote down my dream map and I’m really trying to focus on what I want to accomplish by the winter solstice. Each Monday I access areas in my life I need to work on, and sometimes it’s a lot and getting everything done is near impossible. I set my intentions, manifest the life I wish to lead and I reset even in weeks of chaos.

Curating a “Main Character” Playlist I cannot stand silence. Literally, it drives me mad. So when I wake up, I put on my happiness playlist. Lately it’s the soundtrack from Pride in Prejudice. As I make my morning coffee in my beautiful mug I imagine a proper English breakfast and I’m transported to another era. That’s the beauty of a playlist. Sometimes I cook to music from the jazz era, and exercise to hard rock or disco. My music playlist enhances my mood, or helps me on days when I’m not feeling as motivated. Music has the power to shift my energy instantly. It’s not just background noise, it’s soul fuel.

Food as Fuel, Not Punishment. Food is fuel, it’s nutrition to literally fuel our bodies. It gives us the energy we need to do all thing big and small tasks. It’s also love. For me, it’s about choosing meals that make me feel alive, not sluggish. That means fresh, colorful, vibrant, plant-based. But it’s not about perfection, it’s about nourishment. Mindful choices. Gentle grace. And yes, sometimes vegan donuts. Just be careful to understand the difference between treats and binges. Ask yourself, “Do I want to feel good after I eat?” Let that guide your plate. There’s nothing like sharing a beautiful meal with someone you love.

Embracing Gratitude (Even When It’s Hard). When you are going through it, I mean really going through it, it’s so hard to say I am thankful. Your view of your situation skews the bigger picture. That’s the time to remember your gratitude. Gratitude isn’t just for the good days, it’s the light we hold up through the hard ones.
Each night, I quietly say 3 things I’m grateful for. Some days it’s big: a breakthrough I’ve been waiting for, a kind friend, an unexpected tip. Other days it’s small: a delicious meal, a funny cat video, a good hair moment. Every day I am always thankful for my husband James, my cats, our families and love. Being grateful transforms my mood and recenters me. Keep a “Joy Jar” or note in your phone. Gratitude multiplies when we name it.

I hope these 5 simple happiness habits help you as you reclaim your joy in a crowded, chaotic world.
love and light,

A note from Rose

I’m feeling a little under the weather today, so I’m keeping it simple and heartfelt. This blog is about living life in full bloom, and what better way to live a blossoming life but to honor someone who helped me grow.

I wrote the story below for Mt. Lebanon Magazine a while ago. It’s about a woman who was kind to me when I needed it most, back in my early waitressing days in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Her name was Sheila and her kindness stayed with me long after the restaurant closed, and life moved on. She was a part of the group the “lunch ladies” and I loved them all. I was newly married, away from my own Mother in Pittsburgh, and homesick.

Sheila passed away recently, and I wanted to honor her here on JuiceJavaJoy, where I share the people, memories, and moments that nourish the soul.

This piece is dedicated to her kindness in my early days as I navigated my first moments away from home. Sheila made me feel like I belonged. Sending love to her daughter Lauren and all who loved her.

Dedicated to Sheila Lenchner

My sisters and I drove to Pittsburgh PA once from our home in Cleveland Ohio, but I knew nothing about the steel city; a city that was a mere two hours from where we lived. Little did I know I would soon move just a hair from home to that very city and it would change my life. There was a whole new universe outside my own little world.

I was terrified to move away from my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. I was truly anxious to leave everyone I loved behind, especially my Mother Shirley. Before the move, I was crying in my coffee wondering if I could start all over. I didn’t know a soul in Pittsburgh PA and wondered how I would fit in and if I would meet people who would touch my life as much as the people from back home. I was that girl, the small-town girl who knew nothing but what was in her own backyard. That would soon change dramatically.

We chose Pittsburgh because it was the perfect place to start a brand-new life because of its proximity to Cleveland and wonderful universities and culture. I was just an arm’s length from my comfort zone. I could begin fresh but still hold onto the apron strings of my life. My first home away from home did not occur through happenstance. My Fiancé’ James was going to Point Park University and he researched the best community to live in the Pittsburgh area, a place with good public transportation to the city; he found Mt Lebanon PA. He chose well, Mt Lebanon is a picturesque community in the heart of the South Hills; with beautiful tree-lined streets, several parks, and a friendly and safe environment.

Soon I decided to take a few waitress jobs, because there was a wedding to pay for. Instead of bowing out of our grand moment because of the lack of funds, I decided to go all in to pay for the wedding of my dreams by myself. This is where my life lessons would begin. If I never moved, I would have never met the people who made such a positive impact on my life. Home is where people you love reside, and I have many homes. It all began in Mt Lebanon PA and unlikely friendships that would make me feel connected at a time when I could have completely unraveled.

I began waitressing at the old Red Lobster on Washington Rd, and it was exhausting and a culture shock at first. Now when I look back I do not recall the long doubles or sore soles from hours of serving shrimp, I remember the people I met in my time there. The people of Mt Lebanon who treated me like family when I was homesick. Many of these people were my co-workers and customers I waited on at the job I thought would just earn me tips to pay for my wedding, but I was bestowed so much more. I met my co-worker and friend Brandi and my lifelong dear friend Linda there, who came in often with her beautiful parents whom I just adored. She is one of my life’s inspirations.

One of my regular parties that requested me were a group of ladies from the community. I ended up waiting on “the lunch ladies” because most of the wait staff was a bit intimidated by their unusual requests so I offered to jump in. They would soon adopt me as their own. This was everyone else’s loss and my gain.

Soon I would find myself running around, running food and my lunch ladies would arrive one by one at table four. I would be greeted by big smiles and even bigger hugs, and like lightning I was off to fetch cool iced teas and sliced oranges for my five favorite gals. I loved pampering my girls, and the lunch ladies in each of their unique way reminded me of my Mother and Aunts. I treated them with the same reverence I would treat any family member, and they reciprocated in spades. I was at home but I was at work. I learned they could be the same.

My wedding would soon approach and I received gifts from many of my guests and coworkers including Linda and Brandi. My ladies collectively gave me a wedding gift and card. Sheila, my Pittsburgh adopted Mother as she called herself even came to my rescue once when our car broke down on Washington Rd. Little did I know those moments would be with me for a lifetime. I even met her daughter Lauren and she introduced me as her adopted daughter.

Now I find myself in Los Angeles CA, many years and moves removed from my early days in my first home away from home, yet nostalgic and grateful. I am connected through Facebook to Sheila’s daughter Lauren. She and I are in touch often, and I’m happy to say Sheila is doing well back in Mt Lebanon PA. In retrospect connecting with my customers was more monumental to me then planning the wedding the waitress job funded. Did my wedding go off without a hitch? No wedding does, we had a beautiful wedding but in life we sometimes remember the simpler times more than those grand moments we painstakingly plan. Life takes us on unexpected journeys and we realize the road we travel is just as memorable if not more than the destinations we seek, especially when that road is paved with beautiful new friends from all walks of life.

This piece was originally published in Mt. Lebanon Magazine. You can read the original version here. https://lebomag.com/ladies-who-lunch/

Soar with the angels Sheila. I’ll keep paying your kindness forward, one plate and post at a time. You are missed.

I remember my mother making potato and macaroni salad every summer. She had these humongous plastic orange bowls. Her recipes were simple, yet so delicious. I’ve been making this potato salad recipe for years. My husband loves it, and it’s almost like my mom’s recipe. Of course I use vegan mayo( Hellmans or Follow Your Heart) and I do not use eggs. You can sprinkle a little of black salt ( Kala Namak) for an eggy flavor. If you are concerned where to find it’s easily available on Amazon. This recipe can also be used to make macaroni salad. Feel free to add as many veggies to your macaroni salad as you please. This recipe pairs well with my favorite summer staples, impossible hot dogs and beyond burgers. Happy Cookout!!
Happy 4th of July

Ingredients:

6 medium russet potatoes, peeled, chopped, boiled until fork-tender, then cooled

1 ½ tsp sea salt, or to taste

½ tsp black pepper

1 tsp smoked or sweet paprika

½ cup dill relish (or finely chopped dill pickles)

2 tbsp yellow mustard

¾ cup vegan mayo (adjust to taste)

2–3 ribs celery, finely diced

4 green onions, finely sliced (both white and green parts)

Optional: a splash of pickle juice or apple cider vinegar for zing

Directions:

Boil & Cool the Potatoes
Peel and chop russets into bite-sized cubes. Boil in salted water until fork-tender (not mushy), about 10–12 minutes. Drain and let cool completely — fridge chill if you can!

Mix the Sauce
In a large bowl, mix the vegan mayo, mustard, paprika, salt, pepper, and a splash of pickle juice (if using). Taste and adjust the tang/creaminess to your liking.

Add the Crunch & Punch
Stir in celery, dill relish, and green onions to the sauce.

Toss It All Together
Gently fold in the cooled potatoes. Be tender — we want chunky and creamy, not mashed.

Chill
Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving. Overnight? Even better — flavors really bloom!

Garnish & Serve
Sprinkle with extra paprika, chopped green onion tops, or even fresh dill if you’re feelin’ fancy.

Life in Full Bloom: Five Things I’m Doing to Change My Life

I don’t remember where I got the mug that says “live life in full bloom,” but there’s something about that saying that has stuck with me for years. It’s the basis of this blog and my life—to live life in full bloom. I understand sometimes it’s difficult to feel the flavor notes of life, to embrace a wellness lifestyle, to find joy in the chaos that is life. Yes, it’s difficult, but not impossible, and I’m really trying to go forward with a more positive mindset and a happier outlook. Less procrastination, more doing. This is my beginning.

Here are the five things I’m doing to be able to fulfill my Solstice Dream Map:

I no longer complain about my job or a situation. I’ve embraced waitressing as not only fast cash, but a place to learn, to hear people’s stories, to be of service. My mindset is one of complete positivity, even on bad days. I work through it, and I’m coming out stronger for it.

I plan my weeks, write down my goals, and I’ve stopped procrastinating. I no longer make excuses.

I am in control of my food. I log my food daily on my LoseIt app, and I weigh in once a week. I eat 80/20, allowing all foods in moderation. I keep my calories under 1,650.

I look at problems (household and money) not as catastrophic, but I look at them like puzzles with solutions.

This may sound little, but I keep a clean sink with no dirty dishes. It’s so much easier to handle my life, my waitress shifts, my creative endeavors, and work on my Solstice Dream Map when I wake up and my kitchen is orderly.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about blooming, slowly, steadily, intentionally. And this… this is the season I choose to bloom, no matter what.

Juice Java Joy isn’t just a name—it’s a mindset. A reminder to live life in full bloom, one sip, one sunrise, one season at a time.”

As the sun reached its highest point on the summer solstice, I quietly began mapping the life I’m growing between now and the winter solstice, which is my birthday. This season, I’m manifesting all of my dreams by following my dream map. I wrote a long list of things I wish to accomplish between now and my December 21st winter solstice birthday. I plan to assess how I’m doing at the autumn equinox, then work my way to the winter solstice. After the shortest day of the year, I will go over my dream map and plan my goals for the summer solstice, June 21st, 2026. I plan not to change, but to be a better version of myself. I also plan to celebrate the seasons, the holidays, the special moments that life brings.

Living life in full bloom does not mean my life is free of problems. Let’s pretend it’s raining hard and you have to get to your car. You know you are going to get wet, you don’t even have an umbrella; but the only way is to risk a good soaking from the rain is by running. Your car is your destination. That’s part of living life in full bloom: running through the rain and the muck.

Blooming isn’t all sunshine and warmth; it’s also storms and wind. The point is to keep running through the rain, and soon everything will dry off. If you quit mid-storm, you will be worse for the wear when the sun comes out again. So, I’m building my dream map, and I’m forging forward despite what happens, as I’m trying to live my life in full bloom. Rain does help everything turn green, so let it rain. I will not quit. Soon I plan to bask in the sun.

And maybe, just maybe, this will be the year everything blossoms brighter than ever before; because I always believe in new beginnings and the beauty of tomorrow.

What’s on your dream map, your bucket list?
Love and Light,

Happy Summer Solstice,

Welcome friends and Happy Summer Solstice. Tomorrow is the longest day of the year. We have what feels like infinite minutes of sunshine and daylight to do what your heart desires. It’s a day of new beginnings, sunshine, optimism and a bright outlook for tomorrow.

I was born on the winter solstice December 21st, six months from the summer solstice. It’s the shortest day of the year with the least amount of daylight and sunshine. For that reason I’ve always been fascinated with the summer solstice, and why I chose this time to launch my blog and brand new lifestyle.

The Summer Solstice feels like the perfect day to reinvent yourself, to begin again, to have gratitude for all that has passed but to move forward smiling into the light.

Here’s a list of ten free or almost free things to do to kick off the celebration and honor the season that begins on the summer solstice. Gaze on into joy, creativity and wonder my sunbeam friends, preferably with a refreshing cool drink served in a pretty glass.

Mobile Meditation + Nature Walk + Coffee + Nature Photo Shoot
Go for a long nature walk outside. Let your mind wander as you take in the sights, sounds, and scents of the great outdoors. Make sure you have your phone camera ready to capture the beauty of mobile meditation.

2. Sit Under a Tree with a Juicy Beach Read or an Inspiring Self-Development Book
Find your favorite shady spot under a tree or sit next to flowers blooming in the sunshine. Take in the gift of nature as you escape with a juicy read or find reflection and inspiration in a new self development book or audio book.

3. Get Wet
Splash your feet in a stream, hose yourself ( and someone else ) in the backyard, take a quick dip in a public pool, or run through a sprinkler like you’re a kid again; because to play in water is summer’s way of releasing your stresses and cleansing your mind and soul.

4. Make Vegan Peach Cobbler
Summertime fruit + simple ingredients = a cozy kitchen creativity that feeds your body and your spirit. Bonus points if you share it with a neighbor or friend. I will be sharing my simple recipe soon, stay tuned.

5. Go for a Day Trip in Your Own City
Become a tourist in your hometown. Visit a park, museum (free days!), or a quirky neighborhood you’ve never explored. You don’t have to go far to feel illuminated. Sometimes magical moments are found in your own backyard.

6. Host Outdoor Coffee, Conversation & Pastries
Invite a friend or two for a chill morning or afternoon hangout outside. Keep it simple, brew some coffee, grab some vegan pastries, and talk about life, dreams, or just revel in moments of friendship.

7. Start One Thing on Your Bucket List
That book you want to write, the dance move you want to learn, or the garden you want to start, plant the seeds now. Take one tiny step today to water your dreams and soon you will see the fruition of all of your hard work.

8. Random Acts of Kindness Challenge
Celebrate the solstice by sharing kindness with others. Hold a door open, pay a compliment, bake cookies for your neighbors or co-workers, leave a note for a stranger, or send a heartfelt text to someone who needs it. Small gestures, big heartbeats.

9. Picnic with a Playlist
No fancy cooler? No problem! Swing by the grocery store, grab simple snacks (fruit, nuts, crackers, maybe some vegan cheese), and head to your favorite outdoor spot. Bring a playlist of summer jams, lay back, and let the good vibes roll. Bonus if you do this with someone you love.

10. Outdoor Yoga or Stretch Session
Roll out a mat or a towel, find a quiet spot in the sun or shade, and follow a free online yoga flow or simply stretch your body intuitively. Breathe deeply and soak in the sun’s healing energy.

Bonus: Star Gazing & Storytelling Night
As the sun sets on the longest day of the year with the most sunlight, lay on a blanket and gaze up at the stars. Say a little gratitude mantra and feel the vastness of the universe spark your dreams. Feel that? That’s the beautiful experience of being alive. Capture that feeling like it’s a firefly.

Love and Light

With Gratitude,

Hello Friends,

As the Summer Solstice approaches, I’m getting ready to officially launch this blog, Juice Java Joy, on June 21. I chose that date with intention. It’s the longest day of light, a time when nature stretches wide in full bloom. That’s how I want this journey to feel: expansive, radiant, and rooted in joy.

Even more special, it lands exactly six months before my birthday on the Winter Solstice, December 21. It’s a reminder that light and darkness both hold beauty, and that every season has its purpose. These six months are a time for transformation, reinvention, even during life’s stresses and struggles, despite them. Growth doesn’t wait for perfect conditions. It happens in the messy, in the in-between, in the showing up. I’m no longer procrastinating, I’m making an effort to follow through with all of my dreams, goals and intentions.

This blog has been years in the making, born from dreams I once shelved during life’s storms. But light returns. It always does. And so, here I am, beginning again.

In this space, I’ll be sharing reflections on wellness, the beauty of plant-based living, creative growth, mindset shifts, joyful movement, and the art of living fully, even when things get messy.

If you’re reading this, thank you. You’re already part of something meaningful. I hope you’ll stick around, explore with me, and maybe even share what lights you up.

We’re all just waking up to the light we forgot we carried. I’m writing my dream map and writing down my intentions for the next six months. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, curl and write it down.

Love and light
Rose

I launched JuiceJavaJoy not because life was perfect, but because it wasn’t. This is my story of beginning again—in the mess, with heart, and in full belief that joy can be found even in the aftermath of the storm.

Why I Chose to Begin Again after struggles: Embracing Imperfection and Manifesting Dreams

To begin again after struggles. Sounds cliche’ but I believe in new beginnings. I wanted to launch this blog for years. I even tried last July, believing I could accomplish great things with big dreams. But then I found myself in the eye of a hurricane, literally and metaphorically. The winds knocked me down and what followed was a period of great challenges. I was left with the aftermath of the storm.

In the months that followed, I didn’t feel like I had anything worth saying on this blog. Struggles whispered you can’t do it, and joy felt like a country I didn’t have a passport to. But even in the stress filled nights, even with the constant worries my dreams kept calling me. Quietly, waiting for me to answer. Not because everything is perfect, but because I finally realized life’s struggles do not define me. I define me. It’s time to begin again.

I now believe imperfect moments are where the real magic illuminates. I believe I have something to give, my story and voice are worth sharing. I’m on a journey to manifest the dreams of my beautiful life. Life is beautiful. I truly believe that. At the end of the day, life is truly beautiful.

Join me on this incredible ride full of endless possibilities. All you need is the belief you can manifest everything and anything your heart desires. It’s time we stop procrastinating, we are dreamers and doers. You hold the map of your dreams. You can simultaneously embrace imperfections and start fresh with a brand new mindset.

Let’s Do This
Love and Light,

“All human wisdom is contained in these two words — Wait and Hope.

Patience and faith, the twin pillars that hold us up through the darkest nights,

JuiceJavaJoy is my space to pour out the ideas, passions, and stories that fuel me and maybe fuel you too. Whether I’m dancing to my favorite tunes, chasing a writing deadline, or just trying to figure it all out between waitressing shifts and wild dreams, I’ll be sharing it here with you.

I’m officially launching JuiceJavaJoy on the Summer Solstice, June 21st. What better time to begin something brand new than on the longest, sunniest day of the year? Until then, I’ll be sharing a few pre-launch posts to warm things up, find my rhythm, and invite you into the journey before we officially begin. Think of it as the first few sips from a brand-new brew. I’m so happy to be alive to begin anew, and equally happy you are here to.

Where I Am Now

I love coffee. That feeling when I smell the joy brewing and taste the creamy sweetness of that first sip. But if you wait too long, the bold flavor can turn bitter in your mouth.

I’m all about positivity, joy, wellness, and living life in full bloom. La dolce vita, the sweet, soulful life. But sometimes, life feels more bitter than sweet. It’s in those moments you have to reach deep, sift through the grinds, and find the strength to thrive.

That’s where I am now.

We’re healthy, and for that, I’m deeply grateful. But other hardships have slowed me down and stalled the vision I once had for this blog. So for now, I’m starting right here, from where I am, even if it’s messy. Despite everything, I plan to keep showing up, keep creating, and keep working through the struggles.

This space still holds all the things I believe in — light, joy, nourishment, and growth. I may not have it all figured out, but I’m still here. Still believing. Still trying to live life in full bloom, one grounded step at a time.

If you’re in a season like this too, you’re not alone. You’re welcome here. Let’s find the joy again together.

JuiceJavaJoy relaunches on the Summer Solstice, June 21st.

I hope you’ll join me for a fresh start, a return to light, and a shared journey toward the sweet life.

With Gratitude,
